About The Position
Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery for an exciting Travel or Local job in Santa Monica, CA. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients, assessing and managing high-acuity Labor & Delivery patients, and performing sterile vaginal examinations and ongoing labor assessments. The role also includes circulating in the operating room for obstetrical procedures and cesarean deliveries, administering medications, monitoring fetal and maternal well-being, collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare staff, maintaining accurate documentation using Epic EMR, educating patients and families, and ensuring compliance with safety and infection control policies.
Requirements
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- BLS (Basic Life Support).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience.
- Previous travel contract experience required; no first-time travelers.
- Must be fully competent to circulate and perform sterile vaginal exams.
Nice To Haves
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Previous experience in a MAGNET-designated acute care hospital.
- Previous experience in large hospital settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients.
- Assess, monitor, and manage high-acuity Labor & Delivery patients.
- Perform sterile vaginal examinations and ongoing labor assessments.
- Circulate in the operating room for obstetrical procedures and cesarean deliveries.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols.
- Monitor fetal and maternal well-being utilizing fetal monitoring systems.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and multidisciplinary healthcare staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn care.
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection control, and facility policies.
