About The Position

This is a challenging and fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit that handles over 300 births per month. Double labor assignments are a daily occurrence. The unit cares for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum and for high-risk antepartum and postpartum care, including under 16 weeks high-risk patients. The Birthing Care Unit has an obstetrical triage unit for screening patients prior to admission and for routine outpatient procedures. Scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean Births and rescue cervical cerclage are performed. The unit is very fast-paced, busier and higher acuity than might be normally expected. Nurses may not be able to take 48hr contracts due to the unit's busyness. The unit is accepting 20+ week contracts up to February 27, 2027.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience to be comfortable working on this unit
Experience in a large/high volume similar setting
BCLS certification
AWHONN Intermediate certification
NRP certification
Experience with >300 births per month
Experience with double labor assignments
Experience with PYXIS
Experience with EPIC
Experience with SBAR

Nice To Haves

3 years of experience preferred
Circulate to OR experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Circulate
Perform sterile vaginal exams
Competent in immediate newborn care
Float as needed to the Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit
Care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater for all intrapartum and for high-risk antepartum and postpartum care
Care for under 16 weeks high risk patients on the high-risk maternity unit
Perform screening of patients prior to admission in the obstetrical triage unit
Perform routine outpatient procedures such as antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration
Assist with scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean Births
Assist with rescue cervical cerclage
