About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, a 444-bed hospital recognized for its clinical expertise and advanced medical technology. The hospital is a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center and offers specialized services in bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. Fort Sanders Regional is part of Covenant Health, a large nonprofit health system in East Tennessee. RNs in this role must commit to working hours set by the Tier 1 commitment agreement.

Requirements

Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license.

RNs with 1 or more years of experience are required to: Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care. Assesses learning needs of patient and family. Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family. Recommends interventions. Evaluates plan of care. Resolves problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision. Demonstrates willingness to precept employees/students as directed. Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor.

Responsibilities

Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.
Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
Participates on unit-based committees.
Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
