About The Position

This role focuses on providing comprehensive care to patients throughout the labor and delivery process. Key responsibilities include continuous monitoring of fetal and maternal well-being, assisting in deliveries, administering medications, providing education and support to patients and families, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The position also emphasizes professional growth through participation in shared governance and skill development.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
• Minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

• Previous L&D or Women's Health experience is highly preferred.
• Transition to Practice (TTP) / Nurse Residency programs and structured preceptor training are available for nurses moving into this specialty.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor fetal heart rates, maternal vitals, and progression of labor utilizing evidence-based practices.
• Assist physicians during both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, and provide immediate post-partum and neonatal stabilization.
• Safely calculate, prepare, and administer labor-inducing agents, pain management, and other obstetric medications.
• Educate and guide patients and their families through the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases.
• Communicate seamlessly with an interdisciplinary team, including OB/GYNs, anesthesiologists, and neonatal specialists.
• Participate in shared governance and continuous skill development.
