About The Position

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a nurse leader who inspires and demonstrates a strong combination of clinical skills, management abilities, and integrity. The 4South unit is a 63-bed Oncology/Cellular Therapy/Hospice unit providing care to patients with various medical diagnoses including pneumonia, tuberculosis, sepsis, sickle cell anemia, cancer, and palliative care. Care is delivered through interdisciplinary assessments, team care planning, and a patient classification system, with a focus on pain management, medications, self-care, nutrition, and education. The team administers chemotherapy, monitors patients, provides metabolic support, patient and caregiver education, and palliative care. They also care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and those with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma undergoing stem cell/bone marrow transplantation. The unit also manages medical and telemetry patients and nurses are trained for research protocols. As a Registered Nurse IV on 4South, you will be responsible and accountable for the supervision and application of the nursing process. You will act as an expert clinician with a high standard of knowledge and expertise in a specialty and general nursing. You will consistently demonstrate excellence in nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration. You will manage complex, unpredictable patient care situations and serve as a nursing leader and resource to staff, the unit, the organization, and the community. This role involves oversight of projects, quality improvement work, or unit-based initiatives, applying clinical knowledge for cost savings, demonstrating knowledge of regulatory requirements for patient assignments and delegation, and leading through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Experience leading or supporting timely discharges, patient throughput, admissions, transfers, and overall hospital flow, as well as precepting, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff is expected.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN or higher required.
Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required upon hire.
Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.
Minimum of 5 years acute RN experience including 3 years experience in complex cellular therapy/hematology-oncology patient population required.
Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area.
Has maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for a minimum of one (1) year.
Have an overall performance evaluation of “Strongly Meets” or higher.
Meets clinical criteria and protocol of Clinical Nurse IV.
Demonstrate working knowledge of applicable standards of practice.
Demonstrate commitment to providing excellent customer service and the ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.

Nice To Haves

ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certification preferred; required within six months of hire.
National Specialty Certification (i.e. OCN,TCTCN).

Experience Precepting, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
