About The Position

The Vascular Access Team cares for a wide variety of patients from infants to elderly adults, servicing all areas of the hospital including inpatient and outpatient areas. This role is perfect for nurses who like walking a lot and can push a cart around. The team has a collaborative approach with multiple disciplines within the facility and prides itself on teamwork, respect, open communication, and giving exceptional patient care.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Chemo/Bio course completion within 3-4 months of hire
• Experienced/Successful with PIV placements

Nice To Haves

• VABC certification is highly encouraged after 2 years on the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and communication skills while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
• Perform Ultrasound guided PIV placements.
• Perform Midline and PICC line placements.
• Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy.
• Perform insertion of SBFT’s.
• Perform therapeutic phlebotomy.
• Round on all central lines/midlines daily and document line necessity on central lines.
• Focus on preventing central line blood stream infections.
