Registered Nurse - Invasive Cardiac Lab
About The Position
The Staff Nurse is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. This role involves assisting with scrubbing, circulation, and recording in the Cath Lab, maintaining drug and narcotic inventory, and providing on-call coverage. The nurse will also rotate through non-invasive Cardiology Lab and the Heart Institute Ambulatory Care Unit (HIACU) for patient prep and recovery. Requirements
- Registered Nurse; current NYS licensure.
- Minimum of one year critical care experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Cardiac experience required.
Nice To Haves
- ACLS preferred.
- Previous Critical Care/ICU experience desirable.
Responsibilities
- Assists with scrubbing, circulation and recording in the Cath Lab per Cath Lab policies and physicians specific procedures.
- Maintains an adequate stock and proper inventory of drugs and narcotics.
- Is responsible for on-call coverage with response time not to exceed 30 minutes.
- Is skilled in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Remains flexible in staffing patterns and resolutions of staffing conflicts; rotates through non-invasive Cardiology Lab, as needed.
- Heart Institute Ambulatory Care Unit (HIACU) rotation involving prep and recovery of Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Interventional Radiology patients required.
