About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is in a Progressive Care (Step down) unit, specifically the Pre/Post Cardiac Cath Step Down Unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center. This dynamic stepdown environment is dedicated to the cardiac patient population. In collaboration with the Cardiac Cath Lab, the unit cares for patients undergoing pre/post cath procedures, ablations, pacemaker insertions, and TAVR procedures. RNs are supported through telemetry and ACLS certifications. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care, utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, determining the priority of patient problems and needs, and developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes. The RN also ensures a safe and therapeutic environment and acts as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • 1 year of RN experience (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire)
  • 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyzes assessment data, creates a plan of care, implements treatment, and evaluates treatment effectiveness.
  • Serves as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Acts as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department.
  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
