About The Position

The registered nurse (RN) in the Internal Travel Team at Mayo Clinic will rotate across Mayo Clinic sites in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota and Wisconsin as determined by patient care needs. Our ED RNs support Emergency Department settings across MCHS hospitals in Minnesota and Wisconsin, assessing, triaging, and treating patients of all ages. This position requires a commitment to patient safety/satisfaction and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. The exact role can vary based on patient demand, resource availability, and facility practices, as MCHS EDs range from level I to level IV trauma centers. The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care, functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. The RN provides leadership through roles such as preceptor and quality improvement efforts, and delegates patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, is skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate on committees or projects. This role provides contingency staffing support across Mayo Clinic nursing sites, requiring routine travel and essential flexibility and adaptability in work assignments and schedules.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure

  • For TN sponsorship: state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification

Responsibilities

  • Rotate across Mayo Clinic sites in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota and Wisconsin as determined by patient care needs.
  • Support Emergency Department settings across MCHS hospitals in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  • Assess, triage, and treat patients of all ages that come through the hospital doors.
  • Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Provide leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.
  • Provide contingency staffing support across Mayo Clinic nursing sites as determined by staffing and patient care needs.
  • Actualize Mayo Clinic core values and culture.
  • Travel on a routine basis to various locations.
