About The Position

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Intermediate Care/Step Down Unit. This position is for the night shift, 36 hours per week. New graduate RNs are welcome to apply and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, which is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program. The unit is a 30-bed facility that handles a variety of diagnoses including medical, surgical, cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological, or traumatic injuries requiring cardiac monitoring. Frequent diagnoses include cardiovascular issues such as syncope, angina, chest pain, and congestive heart failure. The hospital is undergoing a transition to a new, modern facility anticipated for completion in 2025. Requirements

  • Registered Nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • None required experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients with medical, surgical, cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological or traumatic injuries requiring cardiac monitoring.
  • Manage frequent diagnoses including syncope, angina, chest pain, and congestive heart failure.
  • Participate in the 11-week Transition to Practice program for orientation and skill acquisition in IMC areas.
  • Support the transition to practice for new graduates through a comprehensive 6-month residency program.
