About The Position

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) at Texas Health Denton provides care to patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessments to proactively manage life-threatening/emergent situations. This is a full-time night shift position in a 20-bed ICU unit that serves surgical, medical, cardio, open hearts, vents, COVID, vascular, and CRRT patients. The team is described as a family that works together to provide compassionate care, with excellent opportunities for educational and career growth, including leadership advancement. The unit offers self-scheduling.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
RN - Registered Nurse upon hire required
CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency must be complied with
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS – within 90 days of hire
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire
1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
NIHSS within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
1 year ICU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
