About The Position

Madera Community Hospital, a General Acute Care, private, not-for-profit hospital in Central California, is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the day shift. The hospital is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of the Central Valley community and is looking for individuals committed to quality care and making a difference. The Registered Nurse is a staff nurse responsible for safe and appropriate patient care, providing instruction, direction, and supervision to subordinate unit staff, and serving as a resource for all departments. This role requires advanced knowledge of the nursing process, patient assessment, nursing standards, the California Nursing Practice Act, hospital policies and procedures, pharmaceutical math, and personnel management. Strong English communication skills, peripheral IV experience, and good time management/prioritizing skills are essential. Computer experience is preferred. The nurse will analyze data, determine healthcare actions, teach patients and families, demonstrate and supervise practices, make recommendations to physicians, use physical strength to move patients or equipment, and select appropriate health supplies and medical equipment. They will communicate with colleagues, patients, physicians, and families in person and via phone.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices is essential.
  • Requires current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Requires American Heart Association ACLS.
  • Requires NIHSS Certification.
  • Requires Basic Arrhythmia Certificate.
  • Peripheral IV experience and skills required.
  • Good time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Thorough and advanced knowledge of the nursing process, patient assessment and nursing standards.
  • Knowledge of the California Nursing Practice Act, hospital policies and procedures.
  • Intermediate pharmaceutical math skills.
  • Knowledge of management and assignment personnel.
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an ICU setting is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), internal medicine, occupational health, or ophthalmology will be considered advantageous.
  • Computer experience preferred.
