RN - Registered Nurse - Intake - Evenings
About The Position
The Registered Nurse - Intake position is a full-time role within the Behavioral Health - Nursing Administration Intake department, working evening shifts from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The role is located at UAB St. Vincent's East. UAB St. Vincent's, a part of UAB Medicine, has been serving Alabama for over 125 years, with five hospitals and numerous clinics. Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing and required professional licensure at time of hire.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient intake activities and resources.
- Evaluate severity of illness for all elective, direct and urgent admissions to determine appropriate level of patient care.
- Review physician orders for clinical appropriateness / completeness and proper admission status.
- Coordinate education and development of internal staff and external departments to ensure understanding of intake review and approval process.
- Conduct complex clinical review for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services requests for medical necessity.
