About The Position
RISE Community Hospital is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Registered Nurse to join their founding clinical team. This role involves providing direct, specialized bedside care for individuals navigating addiction, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. The hospital is a state-of-the-art community facility in Prairieville, LA, featuring a 3-bed Emergency Department and a 10-bed inpatient unit, focused on bridging acute medical needs with sustainable recovery through the RISE Recovery Program. This program offers medical clearance, withdrawal management, and stabilization for patients beginning their recovery journey.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current ACLS and/or PALS certifications.
- 2+ years of substance abuse/detox or critical care experience in a hospital or equivalent setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, track patient progress, and manage complex withdrawal symptoms (such as DTs, seizures, and tachycardia) using evidence-based protocols like CIWA.
- Collaborate closely with physicians to develop tailored care plans, administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, IV), and provide effective pain management services.
- Conduct mental health screenings, offer compassionate emotional support, and educate patients and their families on post-treatment home care and long-term recovery resources.
- Monitor behavioral changes, utilize restraint protocols safely when necessary, and actively participate in multi-disciplinary discharge planning to ensure seamless transitions into rehabilitation.
