Registered Nurse Inpatient-Delnor Neurology Unit Full Time Nights
About The Position
The Registered Nurse Inpatient is a clinically competent, registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse interacts effectively with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice and adhering to Northwestern Medicine’s mission, values, Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. This is a full-time night position scheduled for three 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., totaling 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE). The schedule includes every third weekend (Friday and Saturday nights) and rotating holidays throughout the year.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong analytical abilities.

Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement an individualized plan, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in providing direct patient care.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff; create a documented, outcome-focused care plan that reflects communications and decisions about care and service delivery.
- Participate in shared governance, committee work, and unit projects.
- Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record and individualize the plan of care based on evaluation findings.
- Use the best available evidence, including research findings, to guide practice decisions.
