About The Position

Under general supervision, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care and functions within the organization, in accordance with established philosophy. This is a part-time position requiring 48 hours per pay period, with every other weekend and holiday rotation. The role involves providing the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit. It requires initiating and implementing patient education and care plans, assessing and critically thinking to rapidly recognize and respond to clinical changes, and making nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees. The nurse will maintain acceptable standards of patient care, identify problems and guide personnel to their solution, and create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel. Responsibilities include accurately and promptly implementing physicians' orders, administering medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly, and maintaining standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting. The role also involves ensuring needed supplies and equipment are available, participating in planning changes and improvements, and participating in hospital safety and security programs. Supporting and enforcing infection-control policies and procedures, being resourceful and calm in emergencies, and keeping the Nursing Supervisor informed of patients, needs, and problems on the nursing unit are also key functions. Additionally, the nurse will participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel, evaluate the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action, and assist in reviewing and revising policies and procedures. Maintaining a professional approach with confidentiality, displaying concern and initiative, original thinking, creativity, resourcefulness in meeting challenges, and generating suggestions for improving work are expected. The nurse will adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre and post-surgery patients is provided, along with collaboration on discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team and updating hospitalists on patients' change of condition in a timely manner. Communication involves the ability to read and interpret documents, write clearly and informatively, speak clearly, active listening, and effective communication with physicians, employees, patients, family, and the public. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited program in nursing.
Active State of Ohio Registered Nurse Nursing License.
CPR - approved by the American Heart Association.
Basic computer skills.

Physical dexterity and psychomotor skills to respond adequately and appropriately to routine and emergency patient care needs in an ambulatory setting.
Visual and auditory capabilities sufficient to read information and respond to patient care needs.
Ability to work in a computerized environment that includes prolonged sitting and use of keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Cognitive ability to accurately observe, analyze, and interpret general and technical data both verbal and written to accurately communicate this information.
