This is a full-time Resource Registered Nurse position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) working nights. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The nurse will continuously evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes, administering medications, treatments, and therapies safely. Effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution are essential, as is fostering team collaboration and appropriate delegation. Professional development, required education, and maintaining certifications are expected. The role requires adherence to the ANA Code of Ethics, ethical decision-making, respect for interdisciplinary roles, and contribution to integrated, unbiased patient care. Appropriate delegation to other nursing staff and accurate, timely EHR documentation are also key. This position may require floating to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, including understanding of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of age-specific needs.
