Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Inpatient/Outpatient Wound Clinic. This role is casual/PRN and involves day shifts. Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in a related specialty area required.
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to learn, retain, and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred (for Jennie Edmundson Memorial Hospital).
  • Certified Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) preferred.
  • Certification(s) in area of specialty from National Certification Corporation (NCC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Population Specific Criteria.
  • Perform an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient's ongoing nursing care needs, including data from the patient/significant other(s) and prioritizing data collection.
  • Develop/review/revise and individualize the plan of care to address the patient's nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcomes, collaborating with providers and other clinical disciplines.
  • Implement interventions that are consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner, following nursing protocols and standards of care.
  • Evaluate patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome, monitoring outcomes and documenting patient response.
  • Perform technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety, learning new skills and equipment within the unit's specifications and time frame.
  • Maintain professional behavior in attitude, demeanor, and interactions to achieve the organization's mission, communicating effectively to solve problems.
  • Initiate action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family, or hospital employees, completing appropriate report forms for any risk.
  • Review, delegate, and evaluate plans for appropriate utilization of staff at all levels of practice in accordance with the state's Nurse Practice Act and Professional Standards of Practice.
  • Be fiscally accountable and act professionally responsible for human and other resources, charging accurately for use of supplies and equipment.
  • For MFH Clinic Wound Care RNs: Perform initial nursing assessment, communicate findings with the physician, assess wound stage and measurements, document care plans, evaluate patient status, and identify situations requiring intervention.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, provide education to the patient or caregiver, and serve as a patient advocate.
  • Perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) related duties as assigned, upon completion of training.
  • Collaborate as needed with other healthcare providers, Wound Care Center Providers, the Program Director, and the Medical Director.
  • May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics and Hospital policy.
