About The Position

This role is in the Infusion Therapy Center, a hospital-based outpatient unit providing daily coverage from 7:00 am to 11:30 pm. The center offers a broad variety of infusion therapies, including IV medication, IM injection, blood product administration, and therapeutic phlebotomy. Infusion Therapy nurses are experts in intravenous medication administration, vascular access care and maintenance, and PICC line placement and care, serving as a resource for the Department of Nursing and the institution on vascular access care and troubleshooting. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, supporting professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, with accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients, based on the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. The RN provides leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. Delegation of patient care is based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, is skillful in mentoring and teaching, and may participate in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of their role responsibilities. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

Graduate of a nursing program, as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
One year of professional RN experience required.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience working in a team environment.
Computer skills required.
Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.

Responsibilities
