About The Position

Mobile Health Team Inc. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse - Infusion Services for a 13-week travel assignment in Sitka, AK. The Registered Nurse for Infusion Services provides comprehensive nursing care to Infusion patients as well as nursing care directed toward patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. This role involves facilitating and overseeing infusion patient referrals, coordinating appointment scheduling, posting patient results, and observing patient condition and reactions. The nurse will also assist with supervision of clinic staff, participate in staff development, assess patient needs, and ensure prior authorization is initiated as needed. Administering specialty IV fluids, maintaining IV access devices, identifying and diagnosing patient health problems, and preparing for infusion patients are key duties. The role includes educating patients and families about post-discharge care, initiating patient care meetings, maintaining a safe environment, and providing guidance to the healthcare team. Staying current on advances in oncology/infusion nursing, overseeing direct patient care, and utilizing knowledge of medications, procedures, and safety precautions are essential. The nurse will provide safe, effective, and comprehensive infusion services, including education and follow-up care. Upholding facility commitments, confidentiality, ethical behavior, and participating in departmental activities are also required.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year in immunotherapy/chemotherapy specialty medications
Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years experience
1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred.
Must have current full, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska or other U.S. state required.
Agency staff must have an active Alaska license.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must have Education required to obtain a valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska.
Must have ACLS certification
Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification during employment
Effective team skills including interaction, support, and respect are required.
Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
Willingness to participate in continuing education and training programs
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills , professionalism, and reliability
Ability to learn and apply basic computer skills including locating and opening documents, completing forms, opening and sending e-mail messages.

Responsibilities

Facilitates and oversees infusion patient referrals of tests and treatments to other offices or specialties for continuation of care while maintaining, reviewing, and documenting pertinent information in the patient’s chart.
Coordinates and oversees appointment scheduling for infusion patients.
Posts patient test and examination results, communicating with referring provider and infusion patients to complete circle of care.
Observes and reports infusion patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, immunizations, and procedures to referring providers, recording all pertinent information in the patient’s chart.
Assists with supervision of clinic staff, providing direction, guidance, and referral as necessary for optimal daily infusion patient care flow and utilization of resources.
Participates in staff development activities to maintain current professional knowledge and licensure.
Assesses and prepares the needs of each infusion patient.
Ensure prior authorization is initiated as needed per the patient referral for infusion services.
Administer specialty IV fluids via peripherally or centrally placed catheters, using infusion order sets as prescribed by patient’s referring specialist and/or primary care provider.
Maintain CVC, PICC, or other IV access devices per INS/ONS and facility guidelines.
Identify, assess, and diagnose problems through patient assessment and interactions; evaluates actual or potential patient health problems.
Prepares for infusion patients prior to administration (i.e., reviews orders, effectively communicate with referring physician, oncologist, and pharmacy)
Develops and participates in educating patients and their families about post-discharge care programs.
Initiates patient care meetings with the health care team to review the plan of care of the patient’s condition warrants.
Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
Provides guidance and direction to members of the health care team to ensure quality patient care.
Keeps current on advances in oncology/infusion nursing care by participating in education programs.
Oversees direct patient care in accordance with established nursing protocol and physician orders.
Utilizes knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control and safety precaution, and initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.
Provides safe, effective, appropriate, and comprehensive infusion services to infusion patients as well as provides education and follow-up care after patients have been released from infusion therapy.
Support and maintain facility's commitment with all patients, visitors, outside entities, and each other.
Fully uphold all principles of confidentiality and patient care.
Adhere to all professional and ethical behavior standards of the healthcare industry.
Participate in departmental staff meetings, quality management activities and educational programs.
Comply with the hospital policies and procedures.
