About The Position

New Bridge Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse for their Infusion Center. This full-time position offers flexible shifts and is part of a supportive and inclusive work environment. The role involves direct patient care, administering infusion therapies, patient education, and care coordination. Requirements

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of infusion nursing experience required.
  • Experience administering transfusions, specialty infusions required; chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong skills in IV access including implanted central venous access devices (Portacath), PICC lines.
  • Experience with patient education and care coordination.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a small-team environment.
  • Schedule flexibility required (including extended hours as needed).
  • Current NJ RN license required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • IV (e.g. CNRI) or Chemotherapy (e.g ONS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Central line care experience preferred.
  • Chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.
  • BSN or active enrollment in an accredited BSN program with completion within three (3) years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patients receiving infusion therapies, identifying needs for immediate and ongoing nursing interventions.
  • Administers infusion therapies, including IV medications, biologics, and specialty infusions in accordance with established policies and protocols.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in venous access, including peripheral IV insertion; central line care experience preferred.
  • Monitors patients during infusions for adverse reactions and responds appropriately.
  • Provides patient and family education regarding therapies, side effects, and follow-up care.
  • Documents all aspects of care accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record, including patient response to treatment and progression toward treatment goals.
  • Interprets clinical data and promptly communicates significant findings to providers.
  • Seeks clarification from licensed provider when orders are unclear, suboptimal, or inappropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with medication administration standards, regulations and organizational policies.
  • Apply principles of infection control and safety.
  • Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Provides clinical supervision of ancillary staff working in the infusion center.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Notify management of gaps in policies and procedures and participate in creating or modifying policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
  • Participates in hospital committees as assigned.
  • Maintains compliance with organizational policies, Code of Conduct, and Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for patients throughout their infusion therapy journey.
  • Coordinates scheduling of infusion appointments, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and patient convenience.
  • Works closely with providers, pharmacy, patient navigators, insurance authorization specialists and other departments as needed to facilitate timely and appropriate care.
  • Assists with prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance coordination as applicable.
  • Guides patients through treatment plans, addressing questions and barriers to care.
  • Supports continuity of care across outpatient and inpatient settings when applicable.
  • Acts as the “face” of the infusion center, delivering exceptional service with professionalism, empathy, and respect.
  • Establishes rapport with patients and families, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Responds to patient needs promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, strong communication skills, and a patient-centered approach in all interactions.
  • Ensures infusion equipment and emergency supplies are available and functioning properly.
  • Reports equipment issues and ensures timely resolution in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering.
  • Adheres to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards specific to infusion services.
  • Assists in data collection and analysis of Quality Assurance/CQI monitors; participates in implementation of follow up action.
  • Maintains current knowledge of infusion therapy best practices and emerging treatments.
  • Participates in continuing education activities; attends scheduled in-service programs; shares information gained at conferences with colleagues.
  • Responds to emergency situations as assigned.
  • Performs additional duties as required to support medical center operations.
