Requirements

Baccalaureate or Master’s degree in Nursing, required.
Minimum one year of RN experience.
Knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, and/or infection prevention and control required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Works flexible hours that may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
Strong computer skills required.
Current Arizona registered nurse licensure required.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree preferred.
Acute care experience within the last 2 years preferred.
Adapts to unpredictable situations related to infection prevention and control.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred on hire and required within 3 years of employment.
Experienced in infection prevention, certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Collection and analysis of infection data.
Development and review of policies.
Consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
Education efforts directed at interventions to reduce infection risks.
Implementation of changes mandated by regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies.
Application of epidemiological principles, including activities directed at improving patient outcomes.
Participation on committees, work projects, and research.
