The Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families' (The Delaware Children’s Department) primary responsibility is to provide and manage a range of services for children who have experienced abandonment, abuse, adjudication, mental illness, neglect, or substance abuse. The RN III at Silver Lake Treatment Consortium provides comprehensive nursing care to youth ages 12–17 in a 24/7 residential behavioral health setting as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include coordinating care with staff and providers, managing illnesses and minor injuries, determining need for high level medical care, conducting monthly health assessments, overseeing medication ordering and reconciliation, and training staff in medication administration. Participation in an on-call rotation may be required. CPR, First Aid, and Narcan certification or experience is preferred. Routine weekend and holiday shifts are not required.
Requirements
- At least two years experience as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Nursing OR a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Nursing OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing.
- Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Nice To Haves
- CPR, First Aid, and Narcan certification or experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
- Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
- Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
- Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms.
- Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.
- Coordinating care with staff and providers.
- Managing illnesses and minor injuries.
- Determining need for high level medical care.
- Conducting monthly health assessments.
- Overseeing medication ordering and reconciliation.
- Training staff in medication administration.
- Participation in an on-call rotation may be required.
