About The Position

The Clinical Practice Nurse Expert I (CPNE I) reports to the Unit Manager. The CPNE II is responsible for clinical practice on their respected unit(s). The CPNE II functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary, unit based team to provide nursing expertise for a defined microsystem. This position leads quality care initiatives to improve patient outcomes and patient safety. This role recognizes practice opportunities and works with the interprofessional team to remove barriers and enhance evidenced based practice standards. For each shift worked, the Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) functions as the department’s designated nurse leader providing operational oversight and staff supervision. The CSL works in coordination with nursing leadership. The position ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The CSL promotes Shared Governance structure and functions. The CSL assists with providing leadership presence and staff support by providing coverage for a minimum 1 holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per six (6) weeks of unit staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3 weekend shifts every 2 schedules. Requirements

  • BSN required and completion of MSN or graduate degree in related field acceptable from an accredited college/university within four years.
  • Two years of clinical experience in area of expertise required.
  • Successful completion of RN III Clinical Ladder advancement within 2 years in position required.
  • Excellent collaboration and consultation skills required.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.
  • Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with quality improvement methodology.
  • Current South Carolina licensure as a registered nurse or compact state required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced certification in a specialized field preferred.
