The WCU staff RN will be responsible for the care of women from childbearing through geriatric years and infants up to 28 days of life, supervising and coordinating care with other disciplines. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Registered Nurse will administer and control narcotics and medications, and administer IV fluids according to the PCS Policy and Procedure. The RN will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients/individuals served, including assessing data reflective of the patients/individuals status and interpreting relative to his age-specific needs. They will communicate effectively with all members of the patient care team, compassionately provide care acknowledging physiological, psychological and developmental needs, and demonstrate correct and safe techniques in the use of office and patient care equipment. The RN will handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner, develop an individual plan of care specific to each patient's age, growth and developmental status, and set priorities for nursing actions in a logical sequence. They will document patient assessment, plan, interventions and patients response in the clinical record appropriately, evaluate outcomes for patient care, and consult with other providers as required, adjusting nursing care processes as necessary to ensure optimal patient care. The RN will implement the plan of care, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care for patients. They will maintain and meet expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements. The RN will maintain the unit and patient care area in a clean, neat and safe environment, manage information effectively, and provide a concise and accurate report at end of shift or when transferring a patient. They will perform an appropriate and complete assessment for each patient assigned, utilizing assessment techniques specific to the patients age, growth and developmental status, and perform nursing duties as delineated in and according to the guidelines found in the WCU Skills Inventory Checklist and WCU Policies and Procedures. The RN will provide and document appropriate patient and family education, and provide effective leadership by directing and/or delegating tasks to other members of the health care team who provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN. Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
