About The Position

The West Campus OR is part of the West Ashley Ambulatory Surgery Facility, featuring 5 Orthopedic OR suites, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, a Vascular Interventional suite (VIR), and an outpatient Cath/EP Lab. This position is specifically for the OR, focusing on Orthopedic/Total Joints/Sports Medicine/Spine cases. The patient population is primarily adult, with some procedures on teenage athletes. RNs hired into the OR are trained to both scrub and circulate. All surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis between 7 am and 5 pm, with no weekends or holidays. The facility is part of the MUSC Magnet designation and is Joint Commission Accredited in surgery. It also holds advanced certification in Shoulder/Hip/Knee Total Joints at the Main Hospital and West Campus. West Campus has been recognized by AORN as a Center of Excellence in surgical safety for smoke evacuation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
