About The Position

The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking to hire a Registered Nurse II. This position provides professional nursing care to residents in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include assessing resident needs, administering medications and treatments, maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating care plans, and promoting a safe and supportive environment for residents. The Registered Nurse II also serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff and contributes to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services. Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing and two years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience; OR a bachelor's degree in nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; OR a master's degree in nursing.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Maintain active, valid licensure in good standing throughout employment and provide the employer with updated documentation following each renewal.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor and in accordance with established standards.
  • Serves as designated lead worker.
  • Assists physician with rounds.
  • Reviews recipients' medical records to assure that physician orders are posted, medication and member care treatment and observations are charted.
  • Verifies number and classification of staff available to assign/reassign.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
