About The Position

Under general supervision, provide direct preventative clinical services, assessing the health status of individuals, families, and populations, and provide nursing case management and health education as necessary. The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is committed to leading Oklahoma to prosperity through health. This position is Full Time and works Monday – Friday, with primary hours from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) and one year of professional nursing experience, OR, a Bachelor's in Nursing and possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or, Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Applicants must be willing and able to perform all job-related travel normally associated with this position and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Documentation of education, certification or licensure must be provided at the time of application if required to meet qualifications.
  • All applicants are subject to a background check.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Knowledge of nursing management of available health care resources.
  • Knowledge of nutrition and diet therapy.
  • Knowledge of the functions of various clinical departments.
  • Ability to assist in the development, organization, and implementation of an effective nursing care plan.
  • Ability to provide education and training.

  • Ability to provide direction or guidance to non-licensed personnel in assigned area of responsibility to ensure quality care.

  • Knowledge of accreditation, certification and licensure standards.
  • Knowledge of preventive health practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods of teaching.

  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement an effective nursing care program.
  • Ability to provide education and training.
  • Must be able to provide examinations 80% of the time.
  • Use of N-95 respirator is required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess the health status of individuals, families, and population as well as define a plan of care and provide nurse case management and health education in the areas of Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Tuberculosis, Women, Infants and Children, Immunizations, Adult Health and General Child Health.
  • Collaborate with other professionals in the management of health care, such as offering in-services to community partners to provide health promotion and education.
  • Provide direction or guidance to non-licensed personnel in assigned areas of responsibility to ensure quality care.
  • Assesses health status of individuals, families, and communities; develops plans and implements appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Evaluates and determines health resources necessary to meet individual, family and community health needs.
  • Delivers professional nursing care in an assigned unit, clinic, home, or other setting.
  • Educates individuals, families, communities, and members of the health care team about the principles of disease prevention and health promotion.
  • Delegates tasks as may safely be performed by others, consistent with educational preparation and that do not conflict with the provisions of the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
  • Assures quality health care through use of various measures such as record review, peer review, direct observation, and assessment of individual, family, and community for the desired outcome.
  • Performs specialized nursing functions as educationally prepared.
  • Being present at the office is an essential function of the job.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  • Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.
