Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • 1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program is required.
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire is required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days is required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 Days is required.
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years, ICU, PACU, ER, PCU experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly assesses and maintains patient comfort.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic physiology and pathophysiology, human emotions during health and illness, and human development across the life span.
  • Shows knowledge of pain and suffering, pain interventions, and pain comfort/theories.
  • Provides safe patient care by using barcode medication verification (BMV) during medication administrations.
  • Completes accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Completes assessments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Individualizes care plans specific to the needs of the patient.
  • Provides consistent attention to airway, intake, elimination, sleep, rest, mobility, and hygiene needs.
  • Demonstrates an appreciation of unique meanings by using active listening, exemplifying a non-judgmental attitude, tolerating both positive and negative ideas or expressions, demonstrating flexibility, eliciting patient values and preferences, and developing personal relationships with patients/significant others.
  • Engages in mutual problem-solving with patients and families to help them understand and confront their health and illness, involving a reciprocal, shared approach with resulting decisions acceptable to involved parties.
  • Provides information using up-to-date literature and approved tools, demonstrating knowledge of the patient's unique learning approach.
  • Validates patient knowledge through the use of the teach-back method.
  • Accepts feedback from patients and adopts patient ideas.
  • Prioritizes and individualizes care delivery based on professional judgment.
  • Uses listening skills and demonstrates knowledge of how to engage others.
