Registered Nurse II - Peds Heart Center
About The Position
The Peds Heart Center is a 29-bed unit that is ranked #4 Nationally by U.S News and World Report and #1 in patient outcomes. It is also an AACN Beacon Award-Winning unit and serves as the referral center for all major pediatric cardiac surgery in South Carolina. The unit cares for patients with congenital and acute heart disease of any age, with common procedures including cardiac surgery, Ventricular Assist Devices, Heart Transplant, and cardiac catheterization. The unit provides complex supportive therapies such as ECMO/CRRT and offers pediatric palliative care. The staffing includes Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, with ancillary support from Respiratory Therapy, Pediatric Dietitians, and Pediatric Pharmacists. All beds are monitored beds.
Requirements
- A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provide.
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) required.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
