About The Position

The Cedars-Sinai Medical Network is seeking a Clinical Nurse II, Oncology, a Registered Nurse who will deliver direct care to assigned Oncology patients in an ambulatory setting. Nursing care will be delivered using standards of care by following approved policies and procedures. The role requires utilizing appropriate decision-making skills and exhibiting competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills to independently and safely manage routine patient assignments. The Clinical Nurse II, Oncology will establish a plan of care, set goals, determine priorities, and provide care within established standards of practice. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Valid CA RN license required
  • BLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • ACLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • 1 year acute care experience in a specialty required
  • ONS Chemo/Immunotherapy Certified required (for Infusion Center)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • 2 years of critical care experience (i.e. ED, PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, IR) preferred (for Imaging Dept)

Responsibilities

  • Assesses appropriately patient care needs and learning needs in routine oncology patient populations.
  • Reviews lab diagnostic data and incorporates in assessment
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) monitoring to maintain or improve care of Oncology patient population
  • Plans patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatment, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members
  • Initiates and follows through with appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Demonstrates competency in use of technical skills as required (i.e., IV therapy equipment utilization, universal precautions, body mechanics)
  • Establish IV access utilizing peripheral or central catheters per protocol. Drug should only be prepared once an IV access is established and labs verified
  • Administer IV therapy as ordered by MD
  • Assists as a chaperone when needed upon completion of the required Chaperone Training
