About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) is a 23-bed mixed acuity Heart and Vascular unit. 14 patient rooms are dedicated to ICU level patients, including management of swan Ganz catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impellas, ventilated patients, and CRRT. The remaining 9 beds can serve acute and intermediate level patients. The patient population consists primarily of Cardiology and Vascular surgery patients, with the unit also serving surgical oncology and plastic surgery patients. This unit functions as the stepdown unit for the Ashley River Tower, offering a higher level of care for multiple specialties. Nurses on this unit can manage a-lines, lumbar drains, and titrate cardiac drips. Nurse to patient ratios range from 1:1-1:3 based on patient acuity. This highly engaged team is innovative, dynamic, and fast-paced.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous)
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous)
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous)
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous)
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous)
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. (Continuous)
