This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care within a healthcare unit and housing units. The Registered Nurse I will assess patients' physical, psychological, and social dimensions, apply knowledge of available resources for health history and assessment, and provide written assessments upon admission, during confinement, and upon discharge. The position requires summarizing assessment data, making documented triage decisions, and communicating them to other patient care providers. Planning and implementing individual treatment programs using available protocols, utilizing referral processes, and providing patient teaching are key responsibilities. The role also includes consulting with various healthcare professionals and correctional staff, implementing clinical and technical aspects of care according to policies and procedures, and intervening with proper techniques, procedures, and safety precautions. Administering medications, including IV therapy, and obtaining diagnostic tests and body fluid specimens are also essential functions. The nurse will implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, document nursing encounters using SOAP charting, and communicate information to other staff members while respecting patient dignity and confidentiality.
