About The Position

The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This is a Full Time Nights position for the Medical Surgical Float Pool, where the Adult general Medical, Surgical Staff floats to all Med Surg units as needed. Requires 1 year experience in Med Surg area. The position involves 36 hours per week, typically (3) 12-hour shifts, with weekends and holidays required per department process. The role utilizes the nursing process to care for patients, assessing, organizing, and completing patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors. Documentation of the nursing process, use of proper medical terminology, and addressing problems and progress toward goals are key aspects. The nurse will facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources. Collaboration with other disciplines and support of unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities are also expected.

Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • 1 year experience in Med Surg area.

  • Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
