About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. 10 West is a 21 bed inpatient medical-surgical unit located in the west wing on the 10th in the main hospital building. All patient rooms are private. The predominate population are patients who are admitted for traumatic and orthopaedic injuries; general surgery, plastic surgery which requires restorative and/or reconstructive procedures, and elective spine surgery patients, all of which are hemodynamically stable. Adult and geriatric patients may be admitted when not filled to capacity.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing. (Continuous)

  • Ability to bend at the waist. (Continuous)

  • Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. (Continuous)
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. (Continuous)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
