About The Position

The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to care for patients, assessing, organizing, and completing patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors. The nurse will document steps of the nursing process, utilize proper medical terminology, and address problems and progress toward goals. Additionally, the role facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors, and collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. The nurse supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. This position requires independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only. The Registered Nurse I coordinates activities of others (does not supervise) and leads others in the same work performed (does not supervise). They have input on performance evaluations but do not prepare or give them. The role involves working directly with patients and/or customers, both internally and externally, via telephone or face-to-face interaction. They also work with other healthcare professionals and staff, and frequently with individuals at Director level or above.

Requirements

• Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
• Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
• 0 - 6 months related experience.
• Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
• Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Nice To Haves

• PICC Certification, preferred.
• Previous RN experience, preferred.
