About The Position

The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This is a Full Time position for the Medical Surgical 2 South Observation unit, requiring 36 hours per week with three 12-hour shifts. Weekends and Holidays are required per department process. The position qualifies for Relocation, Shift Differentials, and Employee Benefits. The role involves independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only. The Registered Nurse I coordinates activities of others and leads others in the same work performed, but does not supervise. They have input on performance evaluations but do not prepare or give them. They work directly with patients and/or customers, internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction, and other healthcare professionals and staff. They frequently work with individuals at Director level or above. This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act.

Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.
  • Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors.
  • Documents steps of the nursing process.
  • Utilizes proper medical terminology.
  • Addresses problems and progress toward goals.
  • Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
