About The Position

The Labor and Delivery (LDR) unit is a 16-bed unit with a 6-bed OB Emergency Department, 4 antenatal testing rooms, and 2 C/section suites. The unit participates in AIM initiatives, PPH protocols with QBL, Severe HTN protocols, and Team Birth, along with other process improvement initiatives. A charge nurse is present each shift to coordinate care. Daily safety huddles and bedside shift report are integral to the unit culture. The unit adheres to AWHONN staffing standards for safe patient care and is part of a Center of Excellence in Advanced Perinatal Care Certification (ACPC), accredited through The Joint Commission. The OBED is nationally accredited through CIHQ and is the only accredited OBED in the country, staffed by two nurses and an OB Hospitalist 24/7. New graduates are supported through a nationally accredited nurse residency program.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required.
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for the duration of employment.
  • New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare field preferred.
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience may meet requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically assesses/reassesses the health care needs of individuals, appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions, involving patient, family, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family, and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgment guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations, and policy.
  • Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence-based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Evaluates discharge needs related to the plan of care utilizing resources as needed.

Benefits

  • $27.83- $45.46/hr based on previous work experience + $2.50 PRN I differential - 3 shifts per 6 week schedule.
  • $35 flat rate PRN II - 6 shifts in a 6 week schedule.
  • $42 flat rate PRN III - 12 shifts in a 6 week schedule.
  • Evening differential $2.50/hr.
  • Night differential $3.00/hr.
  • Weekend differential $3.00/hr.
