RN / Registered Nurse - Hospice - on-call
About The Position
Haven Hospice is seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Gainesville, FL, to provide crucial end-of-life care during off-hours. As an On-Call RN, you will play a vital role in bringing relief, clarity, and compassion to patients and their families when they need it most. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring patient care within Alachua County, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 4 pm to Midnight. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure to practice in state of operation.
- One year nursing experience.
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
- Possess and maintain current CPR certification in states where required.
Nice To Haves
- 3+ years of nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in hospice or a similar setting preferred.
- Knowledge of the hospice philosophy of care.
- Commitment to clinical and documentation excellence.
Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on care to hospice patients and offer supportive services to their families during after-hours, on an on-call basis.
- Assess and manage urgent symptoms quickly and compassionately.
- Administer medication or adjust care based on hospice protocols or provider orders.
- Communicate with the physician regarding changes in condition and obtain orders as necessary.
- Offer guidance and support to the patient and family in understanding the current condition and anticipating the next steps.
- If a death occurs during on-call hours, pronounce death, provide support to the family, contact the funeral home, and notify the hospice team.
- Complete timely documentation and communication.
