About The Position

This role is for a Hematology-Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse who supports patients from diagnosis through treatment. The nurse works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, provides disease-specific education, coordinates chemotherapy and hospital admissions, and works to reduce barriers to care. Key aspects of the role include demonstrating excellent communication skills, promoting patient autonomy, and ensuring safe, coordinated, and compassionate care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency (specific requirements vary by location: Arizona and Florida require American Heart Association or American Red Cross; Midwest requires American Heart Association or American Red Cross; some non-campus positions may not require BLS)
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Computer skills required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Effective communicator
  • Excellent critical thinking skills

Nice To Haves

  • One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting
  • One year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supporting patients from diagnosis through treatment
  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurse navigators, and social workers
  • Providing disease-specific education across the cancer care continuum
