About the Unit: The Hem/Onc Infusion-Bone Marrow department cares for oncology patients who have undergone stem cell transplants and require specialized, ongoing support throughout their recovery. Nurses in this area provide a blend of clinic‑based patient care and infusion services, allowing for strong continuity and meaningful patient relationships. Infusions on this unit include a range of therapies such as magnesium, potassium, blood products, chemotherapy, and other supportive or immunotherapy treatments. This unit offers RNs the opportunity to develop advanced oncology and infusion skills while working closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver highly personalized, life‑changing care. Nursing skills gained: Central line access and care Safe chemotherapy administration practices Immunotherapy and biologic infusion skills Blood product administration proficiency Managing electrolyte replacement infusions Monitoring complex STEM Cell & CAR-T patients Recognizing and responding to infusion reactions Coordinating multidisciplinary cancer care Patient education on treatment plans Supporting stem cell transplant recovery Unit Successes/Designations/National recognition: Commission on Cancer Care- COC accreditation. Requirements
- Minimum of one year of RN experience.
- Associates of Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. (Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer).
- Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
