Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required.
• A current RN License in the State of Illinois is required.
• Current CPR certification required
• Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients.
• Knowledge of patient's growth and development needs.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification is preferred, required for critical care and ER
• PALS certification required for ER and Pediatrics
• NRP certification required for Special Care Nursery

Responsibilities

• The GI Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for assessing, diagnosing, identifying outcomes, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients.
• Additionally, the GI Surgery RN role includes directing and supervising nursing care for patients in the gastroenterology setting.
