About The Position

As a Registered Nurse at St. Anthony North Hospital, you will provide comprehensive perioperative care within a department that supports surgery, the GI Lab, and the Pain Clinic. The unit features 13 pre-op rooms and 19 PACU bays, managing a high-volume daily average of approximately 40 surgical cases, 15 GI procedures, and 30 pain management cases. You will be cross-trained to work in both pre-op and PACU, with the expectation to float between these areas to ensure consistent coverage for our patients. Your responsibilities include the full scope of care: performing pre-op calls and Pre-Admission Testing (PATs), facilitating patient transports, and managing clinical recovery for both surgery and GI patients. You will be responsible for recovering both Phase I and Phase II patients in a unified setting, ensuring seamless care transitions throughout the perioperative and procedural process. Requirements

Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
RN License in state of employment
Medium Work exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly
Call Required
30hrs/ week-variable Shift starts and Day of week per volume and unit needs.
Call requirements: 1 weeknight (Monday- Friday) from 1700-0700 (14Hrs)
Call requirements: 2 holidays a year from 0700-0700 (24hrs)
Call requirements: Every 4th Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) 0700-0700 (24hrs)

Nice To Haves

Bachelors Degree in Nursing
One (1) year experience
Direct GI/Endoscopy experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

Facilitate, communicate, and collaborate with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
Promote optimal patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, adhering to patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act.
Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care and the organizational mission.
Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
Evaluate patient’s response and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcome.
Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.
Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.
Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.
Perform pre-op calls and Pre-Admission Testing (PATs).
Facilitate patient transports.
Manage clinical recovery for both surgery and GI patients.
Recover both Phase I and Phase II patients in a unified setting.
Ensure seamless care transitions throughout the perioperative and procedural process.
Cross-train to work in both pre-op and PACU.
Float between pre-op and PACU areas to ensure consistent coverage.
