About The Position

Hartford Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and one of New England's largest teaching hospitals, is seeking a Registered Nurse for its busy GI Endoscopy Unit. This role involves caring for both inpatient and outpatient populations in a pre-operative and post-operative setting. The unit performs advanced procedures such as Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), ERCP, EUS, Motility, Ablation, and Small bowel enteroscopy. Nurses work in collaborative, patient-centered environments utilizing evidence-based practices and the nursing process to meet the holistic needs of patients and families.

Requirements

Current Connecticut RN License.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.

Nice To Haves

1-2 years of Stepdown / ICU experience preferred.
Highly motivated, energetic, and organized.
Ability to multitask.
Leadership skills and willingness to take on projects and tasks.

Responsibilities

Utilize evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies and procedures, and medical staff directives.
Apply the nursing process to develop a plan of care that meets the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
Provide care for patients in a busy GI Endoscopy Unit, serving both inpatient and outpatient populations.
Care for patients in the pre-operative and post-operative settings.
Perform procedures such as Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM), ERCP, EUS, Motility, Ablation, and Small bowel enteroscopy.
Collaborate with strong interdisciplinary teams in a patient-centered care model.
Take on projects and tasks as determined by the needs of the department, demonstrating leadership skills.
