About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the General Intensive Care Unit - GICU. This is a 16-bed unit that cares for patients with diagnoses such as myocardial infarctions, life-threatening dysrhythmias, cardiac post-procedures, gastrointestinal bleeds, acute respiratory distress, vascular surgeries, and general surgeries with complications. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice and professional performance encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• BLS and ACLS required within 90 days of hire
• Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg nursing

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
• Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
• Adhere to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
