IU Health’s Adult Medical Liver/GI unit at University Hospital is fast-paced and highly specialized. This unit treats patients with chronic liver disease, pancreatitis, pre/post liver and kidney transplant patients, and patients who have undergone ERCP procedure. Our nurses use critical thinking as they support high acuity patients. Nurses will build upon of variety of skills such as IV’s, NG placement, G, J, GJ tubes, enteral/parental feeds, etc.

Requirements

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
