About The Position

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking an experienced Nurse to transition into the Progressive Care (PCU) specialty. This is a Full-Time Day Shift position, working 12-hour shifts (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), three days a week. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for eligible nurses. The Progressive Care Unit at Inova Fair Oaks has 36 beds and cares for patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring, often with cardiac, renal, respiratory, and/or gastrointestinal disease processes. The staff collaborates as a team to provide quality and excellence in care for these complex patients.

Requirements

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate’s degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
  • Minimum of 1-year Registered Nurse clinical experience in the acute care setting.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Virginia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of RN Telemetry or Med Surg experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships.
  • Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
  • Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
  • Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues.
  • Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning.
  • Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation.
  • Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care.
  • Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members.
