About The Position

EnvisionAge Inc. is seeking two experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) – Family Practice to provide professional nursing services in support of the Defense Health Agency at Military Treatment Facilities within the Joint Base San Antonio healthcare market. The RN will provide comprehensive ambulatory and primary-care nursing services to military members, beneficiaries, and their families while working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Graduation from a nursing college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Three years of nursing experience after graduation.
  • Knowledge and experience assessing pediatric, adolescent, adult, obstetric, and geriatric patients, as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of medical disorders and disease processes across the lifespan.
  • Knowledge of preventive health, disease management, population health, pharmacology, medication administration, and clinical documentation.
  • At least 24 months of experience within the last 48 months in a primary-care clinic setting.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience providing nursing care in a military or federal healthcare environment.
  • Working knowledge of the Military Health System and TRICARE is strongly preferred by the PWS.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, particularly MHS GENESIS.
  • Strong telephone triage, patient education, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform physical examinations and obtain health histories.
  • Provide health promotion, patient counseling, and education.
  • Administer medications, perform wound care, and provide other nursing interventions.
  • Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Make referral appointments and coordinate specialty care.
  • Perform and assist with clinic-specific procedures.
  • Perform or assist with bladder catheterizations, oxygen administration, visual acuity testing, EKGs, eye and ear irrigation, tympanograms, splinting, and phlebotomy.
  • Provide telephone and in-person patient triage and determine the appropriate level and location of care.
  • Document patient encounters and treatments accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Operate and monitor clinical equipment, including cardiac monitoring devices, EKG equipment, oxygen analyzers, and nebulizers.
  • Participate in orientation and training of newly assigned personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with Military Treatment Facility policies, infection-control standards, patient-safety requirements, and applicable nursing standards.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to achieve appropriate clinical outcomes.
