Mayo ClinicRochester, MN
Onsite

About The Position

The Family Birth Center, located on EI32, provides care and emotional support for families experiencing high-risk pregnancy situations. Prenatal education and support are provided on a one-to-one basis. A maternal-fetal surveillance system interfaces with the monitoring system in Labor and Delivery. The Mother/Baby unit on EI32 provides couplet care, keeping mothers and babies together 24 hours a day to promote bonding, confidence, and collaboration in caring for oneself and baby. The 8-bassinet newborn procedural area is located within the mother/baby unit and is available for medically-necessitated nursing observation of infants, for infant exams, circumcisions, and newborn testing not able to be done in the room. The Family Birth Center cares for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and their newborn babies, with a focus on family-centered care delivered through a couplet care model. OB/GYN triage is located at Eisenberg Desk 3C, just off of the center elevators, and is comprised of four triage rooms and a desk area staffed with nurses and a health unit coordinator. Patients and family members start here to determine labor or assist with complications, and family and visitors receive passes and direction to patient rooms.
