The Registered Nurse (Experienced RN) - NICU position at Aurora Sinai Medical Center is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week. The schedule involves 12-hour night shifts, with holiday rotation and on-call duties as per department scheduling. A Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is required within 6 months of hire. The role demands a minimum of one year of RN experience, with NICU experience being preferred. The position utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, plan and implement care, and evaluate its effectiveness, involving patients and families in their healthcare continuum. The nurse will anticipate and recognize changes in patient condition, adjust care plans, mobilize resources, and collaborate with healthcare team members. Strategies to reduce patient risk and enhance safety will be implemented, along with assessing and addressing patient and family learning needs. The role involves coordinating discharge plans using an interdisciplinary approach, applying evidence-based practice, and adhering to nursing and regulatory standards. Continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes is expected, with empowerment to take action when needed. Support for shared governance, effective communication, conflict resolution, and leadership within the care team are key aspects. Promoting a culture of safety, reporting patient safety events, and participating in quality/process improvement initiatives are also crucial. The nurse will engage in professional development, attend required meetings and educational programs, and complete annual competencies. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and interpreting data to meet age-specific needs.
